Summary of the approach tested via our recent AFIS procurement and upgrade for three Law Enforcement agencies. Presented at International Association for Identification 96th International Educational Conference, August 2011.
Summary of the first criminal court cases where the Judge accepted the scientific facial comparison to be presented to the Jury to compare the surveillance camera footage with the suspect high resolution and high quality digital pictures; Presented at International Association for Identification 96th International Educational Conference, August 2011.
With the availability of very high resolution Commercial Of the Shelf (COTS) Camera, called digital back camera with 60+ Megapixel imaging sensor, it is possible to build new booking station application to capture both forensic level mugshot pictures and high resolution iris images for later use as an additional identification tool for the Law Enforcement ID department and Jails Booking operation; Presented at International Association for Identification 96th International Educational Conference, August 2011.
Is it possible to take a picture of the hand surface skin (palm, digits, finger tips) and use various segments for positive identification of a person?
This lecture will present the research and development of new methodology we have developed to carry out such a task. The research is the basis for the next generation scanners where the a high resolution of the hand from distance is taken and sued to extract the minutiae patterns which will be used for positive identification without touching the device; Presented at International Association for Identification 96th International Educational Conference, August 2011.
The outcome and deliverables of the project on Standoff Biometrics investigation from our US Department of Homeland Security contract is presented in this lecture. The objective of the DHS project is to develop the methodology as well as implement the test and evaluation framework for assessing the maximum standoff ranges in which multiple biometrics can be captured while still ensuring accuracy in determining an individual’s identity. We will cover the technical innovations in the Fingerprint on the Move™ (FOM); Hand Match Identification™ (HaMID), high resolution imaging of face and iris, and Biometrics Identification on the Move system™ (BIMS); Presented at Biometrics 2011 Conference, London UK October 2011.
AFIS and Biometrics consultants are involved with projects and in advisory capacity for serious topics in biometrics identification technology and solutions. We have been asked by many of our customers and colleagues to share these experiences.
As we have stated one reason we started our company is to provide honest and hands-on experienced based professional services and support in this field which is marred by hype and so much miss-information and above all practically hundreds of over-night experts who have contributed to serious questions on the viability, capability and scope of application of biometrics identification technology.
We hope these documents will help the interested parties what biometrics technology is about, what it offers and how to go about planning it for the systems and solutions which require positive person identification and authentication.
